BLR Aerospace has had its FastFin Tail Rotor Enhancement and Stability System for Bell 212 helicopters certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The company adds that certification for Bell 204s and 205s is imminent, while certification for the Bell 412 FastFin is progressing.
Performance improvements can be seen in hover load, wind azimuth tolerance, hover stability and safety. One of the first customers to have the FistFin fitted is Heli Austria. The two orders are for Bell medium helicopters that routinely operate between 7,000 and 10,000 feet, although occasionally mountain rescue missions take them as high as 13,000 feet.
